Alan Russell is Head of Data Science and Architecture at Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which operates Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports. At MAG, Alan established the data science team, driving the adoption of machine learning and AI to deliver insight, automation, and optimisation across all aspects of airport operations \u2014 from aircraft and passenger flows to car parks and retail partnerships \u2014 helping make airports run smarter and more efficiently.<\/p>\n

Alan started his career in academia, where he modelled complex biological and chemical systems, developing a deep understanding of data and its potential to explain the world. In industry he has applied advanced analytics across financial services, banking, consulting, and trading.
