Speaker profile
I am a data scientist at the RAC. I have experience in complex predictive modelling using machine and deep learning.
In my previous work as a research associate at the Centre of Biostatistics at the University of Manchester my research focussed on applications of causal inference to large-scale biological networks to better understand large scale omics data. My work won the 2022 Alan Turing Institute Post-Doctoral Enrichment Award. I have published work on gene expression and network biology previously and given talks at international conferences on my work on applying machine learning to transcriptomics data. I also previously worked as the consultant statistician for the Manchester University Centre for Audiology and Deafness, collaborating on large projects covering a wide variety of methodologies.
I earned my Medical studies PhD at the university of Plymouth, working on large genomics data. I took a data-driven approach to investigating the genomics that underlie neurodegenerative diseases, to really make the most out of all the information that we have access to. I received my MSc from the biomedical sciences program at Plymouth University and my BSc in Biomedicine from the University of East Anglia. I’m passionate about integrating biology and data science.
