Julian Tait is Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Open Data Manchester, a Greater Manchester-based Community Interest Company working at the intersection of data, technology and civic life. He leads work on responsible data practice, AI literacy for communities and participatory data governance, including principles for collaborating with residents on AI systems adopted by GMCA and data standards within supply chain.

Julian has spent more than a decade developing projects that demonstrate the value of open and accessible data. He co-developed Manchester’s Open Data Cities programme, has been involved in local, national and international initiatives, and is a co-author of the Open Data Handbook and The Open Book.
