Speaker profile

Alex Patient brings an “in-the-trenches” perspective honed through over 20 years of first-hand experience in corporate leadership roles. He has worked in the domains of risk management, strategy consulting, and data analytics, across financial services and energy sectors. His career highlights have included leading the Performance Insight division for the FTSE100 Natwest plc through Covid, and being the risk specialist to support the Financial Services Authority’s Risk Managing Director through the financial crisis of 2008-09.

Alex understands what it means to face demanding or aggressive stakeholders, to tackle work / life balance (he has two young daughters), make the difficult choices, and the importance of prioritizing wellbeing as a leadership role model. He has also been on the journey to develop his leadership behaviors, recognizing that each step requires adaptation and different mindsets.

Alex helps individuals and teams to step up and step forward in their current role and their next by working well with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. This involves helping them to recognize their strengths and weaknesses – and their blind spots – and to apply their insights to become the leaders they want to be.

His own personal vision emphasizes a commitment to the community. When not coaching corporate leaders, he can often be found developing the management and leadership teams of British charities: AgeUK, Crosslight, and Hope & Homes for Children being current pro bono clients.

In terms of hobbies, Alex is an avid if mediocre tennis player. His ideal day involves playing doubles on the grass courts of his local club followed by a short trip to the pub, then an afternoon out with his wife and kids.
