Dr Aaron Briggs began working in sports data after completing a PhD on the Aerodynamics of Swing Bowling in cricket in late 2022. Since then, he has worked mainly with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), who funded the research project, using performance data to understand the game, and improve decision making at the elite level. In particular, he focuses on non-traditional data sets, such as ball-tracking and predictive models, and how they can be used to contextualise high-performance cricket. He has also had brief stints in franchise cricket, and working with sports technology providers.
